What do a fighter pilot, mag wheels, Jack Nicklaus, Lake Michigan and a powerful mission have in common?

Answer: A bucket-list golf destination. American Dunes Golf Club, which opens May 3, is located on the former site of Grand Haven Golf Club along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.

General manager Doug Bell joins the show to discuss the new course's backstory, which includes course visionary Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, a PGA professional and F-16 fighter pilot who also is founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Rooney and Nicklaus collaborated to create a course and gathering spot that pays tribute to those who have and are serving in the military, and to the mission of Folds of Honor. All profits generated by American Dunes will benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of deceased and disabled military personnel.
