Episode 50: It's time to get real

This week marks the crossroads of virtual golf and the live game as the PGA Tour takes its first small step toward normalcy

It takes more than puzzles and monster tomato plants to keep the attention of a homebound Alex Miceli. This week, those leisurely pursuits will be replaced by live golf with some of the PGA Tour’s top young stars competing at secluded Seminole Golf Club in Florida in a match to benefit coronavirus relief. Live golf or not, the European Tour found a way to attract the attention of its socially-distant players and fans recently. Despite his “sin’’ on the final hole, The Netherlands’ Joost Luiten won the event played on a simulated St. Andrews’ Old Course, but South Africa’s Dean Burmester provided the fireworks with a hole-in-one on the par-3 eighth hole. Does that virtual ace come with real drinks for everybody watching at home?
