USGA and NBC reunite for U.S. Open

Fox pulls out of its contract to cover the U.S. Open and the USGA’s other championships, ending an uneasy broadcast relationship as veteran golf network NBC steps in again

Fox finally got out of its contract with the USGA, which announced a return to longtime golf network NBC to cover the U.S. Open and the association’s other national championships. Fox simply wasn’t committed to golf, said Alex Miceli, who added that reuniting with NBC makes the most sense for the USGA. “I’m sure, down the road, [the USGA] will look and say, ‘We are so glad Fox is in the rearview mirror’,” Miceli said. So, too, will golf viewers.
