Welcome to “Swings: Then & Now” powered by Swing Index. In this series, we’ll highlight the “before" and "after” swing changes from some of the world’s top players and break them down so that you can understand how they made long-lasting improvements to their swings.

In our third installment of the series, Joe Plecker, co-founder of Swing Index, examines the left heel of Francesco Molinari to find the swing key from the Italian’s 2006 move compared with his action in 2019. It’s an “incredible change in footwork, and a big change in the release,” Plecker said. And it showed in his results as Molinari, an 8-time winner on the PGA and European tours, won the 2018 British Open.
