Footbridge wins Santa Anita feature by 1½ lengths

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Footbridge took command three-sixteenths of a mile from the finish and won the $60,000 feature by 1 1/2 lengths Friday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Footbridge ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.36 and paid $8.40, $5 and $4.40.

Airfoil returned $5.40 and $4.20, while Tiz Dynamic was another half-length back in third and paid $4.40 to show.

Hear the Ghost, winner of the San Felipe Stakes in March, lost for the eighth consecutive race, finishing 6 1/2 lengths behind the winner.

The victory, worth $36,000, increased Footbridge's career earnings to $146,786, with three wins in 10 starts.
