Albano draws off to win Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) Albano took the lead near the far turn and drew off in the stretch to win the $150,000 Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, beating Encryption by 6 1/2 lengths.

Ridden by Kerwin Clark and trained by J. Larry Jones, the 3-year-old colt ran 1 1/16 miles over a fast track in 1:44 and returned $4.60, $2.80 and $2.40. The win in the Grade III race was the third in seven career starts for Albano, who has now earned $308,100.

Earlier in the card, Silent Appeal went wire-to-wire the $60,000 Dan Horn Handicap, beating Jax Maxx by three lengths.

The 6-year-old gelding ran the mile on a firm turf course in 1:35 2-5. Ridden by Eddie Castro and trained by Claudio Gonzalez, Silent Appeal paid $10.60, $5.80 and $4.
