Trainers Pletcher, Nevin win stakes at Belmont

NEW YORK (AP) Trainers Todd Pletcher and Michelle Nevin capped a big weekend for their 2-year-olds by each capturing stakes races Sunday at Belmont Park.

On Saturday, Pletcher saddled Daredevil to victory in the $500,000 Champagne, and Nevin won the $500,000 Frizette with By the Moon.

Both snared another victories Sunday in the $200,000 stakes for juveniles at six furlongs.

Pletcher took the Futurity with Blofeld, and Nevin's Paulassilverlining won the Matron for fillies.

Blofeld rallied up the rail in the stretch to beat Hebbronville by three-quarters of a length. Blofeld, ridden by John Velazquez, improved to 2 for 2. He paid $4.40 to win as the 6-5 favorite. The time was 1:09.49.

Paulassilverlining took the overland route in the Matron, rallying four wide to beat Skipalute by 1 1/4 lengths. Now 2 for 3, Paulassilverlining paid $13.80 to win with Jose Ortiz aboard. The time was 1:10.86.
