ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Light the City rallied to win the $75,000 Anoakia Stakes for 2-year-old fillies by 2 1/2 lengths Sunday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Elvis Trujillo, Light the City ran six furlongs in 1:09 and paid $4, $2.80 and $2.10 as the even-money favorite in the field of five.

Seduire returned $3.20 and $2.40, while Starlet O'Hara was another 5 3/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.60 to show.

Light the City overtook early leader Xoxo at the top of the stretch and then overhauled stablemate Seduire inside the furlong marker to win.

''We stumbled a bit leaving the gate,'' Trujillo said. ''I knew the speed was going to be Xoxo and Seduire, so I tucked in behind them and at the quarter pole, I let her go and she was ready. She did it all easily.''

The victory, worth $45,900, increased Light the City's career earnings to $90,900, with two wins in two starts. The Kentucky-bred daughter of Street Sense is trained by Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer.
