DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) Queen of the Sand rallied from 10th to win the $84,350 Kathryn Crosby Stakes for older fillies and mares by two lengths Friday on the opening day of Del Mar's 15-day fall meet.

Ridden by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Queen of the Sand ran a mile on the Jimmy Durante turf course in 1:34.56 and paid $8.40, $4.80 and $3.60 as the 3-1 second choice in the field of 12.

Gender Agenda returned $9.80 and $6.20, while Kathleen Rose was another length back in third and paid $4.60 to show.

Kitten's Point, the 5-2 favorite, finished eighth in front of 11,513.

The victory, worth $47,940, increased Ireland-bred Queen of the Sand's career earnings to $193,670, with seven wins in 20 starts.

Smith was one of three riders to win two races on the card, along with Tyler Baze and Elvis Trujillo.

The race is named for the second wife of crooner Bing Crosby, who founded Del Mar in 1937.

The fall meet replaces dates previously run at now-closed Betfair Hollywood Park in Inglewood. It's the first fall racing at Del Mar since 1967.
