Ekati's Phaeton wins Old Hat Stakes at Gulfstream Park

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) Ekati's Phaeton opened her 3-year-old season by turning back an early challenge from favored Fashion Alert and out-finishing R Sassy Lass down the stretch to win the Grade 3, $100,000 Old Hat Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.

Ekati's Phaeton improved to 3-0 at Gulfstream, all six-furlong races on dirt. R Sassy Lass was a clear second, 6 1/4 lengths ahead of Fashion Alert.

Night Prowler rallied for a half-length victory over A Lot in the Grade 3, $100,000 Dania Beach Stakes.

A Paul Pompa homebred trained by Chad Brown, Night Prowler won his graded stakes debut. He was ridden by Javier Castellano and covered 7 1/2 furlongs on the grass in 1:30.43.
