Long-shot Not Too Shiny wins Santa Anita feature by a head

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Long-shot Not Too Shiny held on to win the $60,000 feature for older fillies and mares by a head Thursday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Tyler Baze, Not Too Shiny ran 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:13.26 and paid $44.20, $18.80 and $10 at 21-1 odds.

Royal Temptress returned $6 and $4, while Air of Royalty was another half-length back in third and paid $4.40 to show.

The victory, worth $36,000, increased Not Too Shiny's career earnings to $97,520, with three wins in seven starts. It was her second win on the turf course.

''She loves the hill,'' Baze said. ''I liked her chances looking at the Racing Form even though I knew she was the longest shot on the board. Looking at the Form though, it set up perfect. A lot of horses can come from way out of it. Two horses hooked up right in front of me and I was able to have just a beautiful trip.''
