Play Hard to Get wins Santa Anita turf feature by a head

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Play Hard to Get won the $60,000 Green Jewel Purse by a head in showery conditions Friday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Play Hard to Get ran 1 1/4 miles on the turf in 2:00.59 and paid $20.40, $5.80 and $4.20 at 9-1 odds.

Awesome Return made the lead inside the sixteenth pole, but was overtaken late by Play Hard to Get, who was out wide in the track at the finish. He paid $3.20 and $2.60, while Joes Blazing Aaron was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $3.40 to show.

The victory, worth $36,000, increased Play Hard to Get's career earnings to $132,750, with three wins in nine starts.
