Stellar Wind blows to win in Santa Ysabel at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Stellar Wind won the $100,000 Santa Ysabel Stakes for 3-year-old fillies by 2 3/4 lengths Saturday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Victor Espinoza, Stellar Wind ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.16 and paid $16, $8.60 and $5.20 at 7-1 odds. She swung four-wide turning for home after racing wide behind the pace.

Light the City, coming off a second-place finish in the Las Virgenes on Jan. 31, returned $3.60 and $2.40.

Glory was another 1 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $3.20 to show. Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer finished two, three and four in the field of seven.

Stellar Wind earned 50 qualifying points for the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on May 1.

The victory, worth $60,000, increased Stellar Wind's career earnings to $87,200, with two wins in three starts. She is a daughter of 2007 Preakness Stakes winner Curlin.
