Street Maven leads all the way to win Santa Anita feature

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Longshot Street Maven led all the way in winning the $58,000 feature by 1 ¼ lengths Thursday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Tyler Baze, Street Maven ran 1 ¼ miles on turf in 1:59.94 and paid $21.40, $8 and $4.60 at 9-1 odds.

Wanstead Gardens returned $3 and $2.80 as the 8-5 favorite. Crucero paid $4.80 to show.

Baze gunned Street Maven out of the gate, surprising trainer Doug O'Neill.

"We thought he'd be more forwardly placed but to have him on the front end with the fractions they were going, we were cussing him mid-race, but we were loving him at the wire," the trainer said.

The victory, worth $34,800, increased Street Maven's career earnings to $93,670, with three wins in 10 starts.
