Goldy Espony wins Belmont feature

NEW YORK (AP) Goldy Espony raced to her first U.S. victory Friday at Belmont Park in the $85,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares on the turf.

The gray 4-year-old was 3 for 7 in her native France before joining Chad Brown's barn last summer. She ran in two stakes in an abbreviated campaign, with a third in the Valley View at Keeneland the best finish.

Freshened up and given an easier assignment, Goldy Espony beat Dido by a length in her season debut with Javier Castellano aboard.

The time was 1:49.30 for 1 1/8 miles on the firm course.

Rubindy was third, giving Brown a 1-3 finish. He's is the runaway leader, 9-4 over David Jacobson in the standings for the meet that began last week.

Goldy Espony paid $4, $2.60 and $2.20. Dido returned $4.60 and $3.20, and Rubindy paid $2.50 to show.
