Sycamore Lane wins Belmont feature

NEW YORK (AP) Sycamore Lane powered down the center of the turf course to win the $85,000 allowance feature on Thursday at Belmont Park.

After dropping as far back as seventh, the 4-year-old colt swung five wide at the top of the stretch and surged past the pacesetting Iron Power to win by 1 1/2 lengths.

Trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott, Sycamore Lane improved to 4 for 11. Jose Lezcano was aboard for his third win of the day, all on the grass.

The time was 1:47.37 for the 1 1/8 miles.

Sycamore Lane paid $9.80, $4.80 and $3.80.

Iron Power returned $5 and $3.50 while Tattenham paid $9.60 to show.
