NEW YORK (AP) Ticking Katie overcame a stumble at the start Wednesday to win her U.S. debut, an $83,300 allowance feature for fillies and mares on the turf at Belmont Park.

The Ireland-bred 4-year-old settled in the rear of the five-horse pack following the early miscue. Luis Saez swung her four wide turning for home and she relentlessly wore down the pacesetting Dido for a half-length victory.

Ticking Kate, now trained by Brian Lynch, had won three times in 15 starts in England. She paid $13.60, $5.40 and $3.10.

Dido returned $4.40 and $2.40 while Hellenistic, the 7-5 favorite, paid $2.10 to show.

The time was 1:45.90 for the 1 1-16 miles over the rain-softened turf.
