NEW YORK (AP) Possessed and Dreamboat Annie won the $100,000 New York Stallion Stakes for 3-year-olds on Sunday at Belmont Park.

The seven-furlong races were scheduled for the turf. Heavy overnight rain in the New York area washed both onto the main track, which was rated muddy early in the card before an upgrade to good.

The surface switch triggered a rash of scratches.

Possessed faced only three rivals in the Spectacular Bid division. The colt trained by Charlton Baker and ridden by Jose Ortiz romped to a 6 3/4-length victory over Secured Position as the 3-5 favorite.

Possessed paid $3.40 to win, his third victory in eight starts. The time was 1:25.17.

The Cupecoy's Joy for fillies was a tighter contest with Dreamboat Annie prevailing by three quarters of a length over Perfect Freud.

John Velazquez was aboard for trainer Leah Gyarmati as Dreamboat Annie won for the third time in four starts.

She paid $6.50 to win. The time was 1:25.64.
