Tacticus wins Birdstone Stakes at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) Flaxman Stable's Tacticus won the $100,000 Birdstone Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths Wednesday at Saratoga Race Course in his second U.S. start.

Ridden by Joel Rosario for trainer Graham Motion, the 4-year-old colt reeled in front-running Turco Bravo in mid-stretch, running 1 3/4 miles in 2:59.15.

Tacticus returned $6.60, $3.70 and $3.30. A two-time stakes winner in England, he was fourth in his North American debut July 26 at Saratoga.

Turco Bravo returned $5.20 and $3.30, and Desvelo paid $8 to show.
