Embellish the Lace wins Alabama at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) Embellish the Lace led every step of the way to win the 135th running of the Grade 1 $600,000 Alabama Stakes by 1 1/4 lengths Saturday at Saratoga Race Course.

Trained by Tony Dutrow and ridden by Javier Castellano, Embellish the Lace ran 1 1/4 miles in 2:01.97 over the fast main track in one of the oldest stakes races for 3-year-old fillies in the country.

The daughter of 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver paid $14, $8 and $4.60. She's owned by Alex and JoAnn Lieblong.

I'm a Chatterbox returned $5.90 and $3.50, and Curalina paid $2.50 to show. Danette was fourth, followed by Include Betty, Lovely Maria and Sweetgrass.

Also, Shore Runner rallied on the far outside to pass Summation Time late and take the $100,000 Troy by a half-length, becoming the first two-time stakes winner at the meet.

Ridden by Kendrick Carmouche for trainer Joe Sharp, Shore Runner completed 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.18 over a firm turf course and paid $4.80, $3 and $2.30. Summation Time returned $4.90 and $3.10, and Summer Breezing paid $3.10.
