Sioux sets the pace to take Belmont feature

NEW YORK (AP) Sioux was the front-running winner Thursday in the $65,000 allowance feature for New York breds at Belmont Park.

The 4-year-old trained by Michelle Nevin carried Jose Ortiz to his third win on the card.

Sioux held off Force by a half-length for his fourth win in nine starts. The time was 1:42.05 for 1 1/16 miles on the fast track.

Sioux paid $8.60, $5.10 and $2.90. Force returned $3.90 and $2.30, and Beyond Empire paid $2.30 to show.
