NEW YORK (AP) Bob Le Beau held off Hinterland by a half length to win the $150,000 Lonesome Glory Steeplechase on Thursday at Belmont Park.

It was the second straight stakes victory for the 8-year-old gelding trained by Elizabeth Voss.

Following a dominant 7 1/2 length score in the New York Turf Writers Handicap at Saratoga, Bob Le Beau was assigned 14 additional pounds for the Lonesome Glory as the 3/5 favorite.

''The weight was the one thing I was really worried about because he's not a very big horse,'' Voss said. ''I was a little concerned about it, but he's in the top form of his life right now.''

Bob Le Beau toted 154 pounds, including jockey Jack Doyle, to his fifth win in 16 starts over hurdles.

The time was 4:41.27 for the 2 1/2 miles over the firm course.

Bob Le Beau paid $3.50, $2.70 and $2.20.

Hinterland, longest price in the field at 17-1, returned $14 and $7.90 while Dawalan paid $4.50 to show.

One race earlier, Overwhelming won the $75,000 William Entenmann Memorial Steeplechase by 2 1/2 lengths over Broxbourne. He paid $14.40 to win.
