NEW YORK (AP) Tin Type Gal edged Thrilled by a nose Sunday in the $200,000 Miss Grillo Stakes for 2-year-old fillies on the turf at Belmont Park.

Fifth in the early stages, Tin Type Gal rallied four-wide to engage Thrilled. They battled through the final furlong, with Tin Type Gal prevailing for her second victory in three starts.

Trainer Graham Motion said her next start would likely be the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Oct. 30 at Keeneland.

''That's why we're here,'' Motion said. ''We're all pointing to those races. I was thrilled with the way she ran.''

Luis Saez was aboard as Tin Type Gal ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.41 over the firm course.

Tin Type Gal paid $9.70, $5 and $3.40.

Thrilled returned $3.80 and $2.80, and Time and Motion paid $3.70 to show.

Melodic and Sudden Surprise won the 125,000 stakes for New York bred 2-year-olds. Melodic won the Joseph A. Gimma for fillies by three lengths over Frosty Margarita. She paid $7.10 to win.
