Beholder works at Santa Anita in prep for Breeders' Cup

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Two-time Eclipse Award winner Beholder completed her next-to-last workout in preparation for the Breeders' Cup Classic, where she is expected to meet Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.

Beholder ran five furlongs in 1:02 under regular rider Gary Stevens on Thursday at Santa Anita.

American Pharoah went seven furlongs in 1:23 on Wednesday over the same track for trainer Bob Baffert.

Richard Mandella, who trains Beholder, says she will ship to Keeneland on Monday and have one workout in Kentucky before the Oct. 31 race.

He says Beholder's latest work was merely to maintain her form. Stevens says she's ''on top of her game.''
