Room for Me wins Big A's Garland Of Roses Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) Room for Me flaunted her class with a 3 1/2-length victory Saturday in the $100,000 Garland Of Roses Stakes for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.

In her previous start, the 5-year-old rallied from 14th to finish seventh as a 78-1 outsider in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint in late October at Keeneland.

This time, she was the 4-5 favorite facing only five rivals with less impressive credentials.

Room for Me got away fourth with Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard. She pounced on the pacesetting Jubilant Vision midway on the turn and sprinted clear at the top of the stretch.

Owned and trained by David Jacobson, Room for Me got her ninth win in 21 starts.

She ran six furlongs in 1:09.87 on the fast track, paying $3.90, $2.40 and $2.10. Princess Violet was second, returning $2.80 and $2.20. La Madrina paid $2.70 to show.
