Cartoonist wins feature race at Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (AP) Cartoonist won the feature race at Los Alamitos by 3 1/2 lengths Thursday.

Ridden by Ty Kennedy, the 3-year-old bounced back from a fifth-place finish at Fresno on Oct. 11.

Cartoonist covered the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.57 and paid $15.20, $5.20 and $5.60. This was his fourth win in eight starts.

Gutsy Ruler finished 4 3/4 lengths ahead of Sidepocket Champ and paid $4.60 and $3.80. Sidepocket Champ paid $8.

The favored Tannersmymuscle was fourth. Signature Cat, the 2-1 morning line favorite, was scratched earlier in the day.
