Flexibility wins Aqueduct's Jerome Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) Flexibility dominated the $200,000 Jerome Stakes on Saturday at Aqueduct, kicking off the New York road for 3-year-olds heading to the Triple Crown.

The 4 1/4 length victory over Vorticity earned Flexibility 10 qualifying points toward a starting berth in the Kentucky Derby.

The colt trained by Chad Brown and ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. rallied four wide to earn his second win in four starts.

''He did it easy,'' Ortiz said.

After winning his debut at Belmont, Flexibility ran second in both Aqueduct's Nashua and Remsen Stakes.

That stakes experience earned him the role of 1-2 favorite in the Jerome. He paid $3.10, $2.50 and $2.10.

Vorticity returned $5.30 and $3.80. In Equality paid $3.70 to show.

The time was 1:42.98 for the one mile, 70 yards.
