Awesome Gent romps in Aqueduct feature

NEW YORK (AP) Awesome Gent romped to a 5 1/2 length victory Friday in the $57,000 allowance feature for New York bred 3-year-olds at Aqueduct.

Ridden by Manny Franco, Awesome Gent pounced on the pacesetting Gehrig on the turn and pulled clear in the final furlong. The gelding trained by Todd Pletcher got his second win in three starts.

The time was 1:11:06 for the six furlongs on the fast track. Awesome Gent, favored at 2-5, paid $2.90 and $2.40.

Gehrig held second, returning $3. Fumin Newman was third followed by Uno Emayo.

There was no show wagering on the four-horse field.
