NEW YORK (AP) The entry of Taken by Surprise and Surprise Cameo finished 1-2 in the $57,000 allowance feature for 3-year-old fillies on Thursday at Aqueduct.
Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard as Taken by Surprise got her second win in seven starts.
It was an effective display of teamwork. Surprise Cameo pestered the pacesetting Storm Cell, setting the stage for her rallying entrymate to score a 1 3/4 length victory.
The homebred duo from the Repole Stable is trained by Todd Pletcher.
The time was 1:40.85 for the mile in the race for New York breds.
The entry paid $4.80, $4.90 and $2.30 as the 7-5 favorites.
Storm Cell held on for third, paying $3.40 to show.
