NEW YORK (AP) Clipthecouponannie remained unbeaten with a half-length victory over Frosty Margarita in the $118,750 Franklin Square Stakes for New York bred 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct.

It was her first stakes race, and her stiffest challenge.

After two commanding wins, Clipthecouponannie stepped up for her stakes debut and faced a determined challenger in Frosty Margarita.

Those two waged a spirited stretch battle with Frosty Margarita taking a narrow lead before the winner fought back to secure the victory.

Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard for trainer Todd Pletcher as the 1-2 favorite in the four-horse field ran the six furlongs in 1:11.15.

Clipthecouponannie paid $3.10 and $2.10, and Frosty Margarita returned $2.50.

Wonderment was third followed by Red Atlantic. There was no show betting.
