ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Iron Rob took the lead with a furlong to go and won the $75,000 Baffle Stakes by a half-length Sunday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Santiago Gonzalez, Iron Rob ran 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15.50 after the race was moved from the downhill turf course to the main track because of rainfall earlier in the week. The 3-year-old colt paid $13.60 and $3.80.

Tiz a Billy returned $2.60 as the 3-5 favorite, while He's a Tiger was another 8 1/2 lengths back in third. There was no show wagering because of the four-horse field that was reduced because of two late scratches.

Iron Rob was pulled up after the race on the clubhouse turn and wasn't brought to the winner's circle. Trainer George Papaprodromou said the colt was fine, but had stumbled leaving the starting gate.

The victory, worth $47,100, increased Iron Rob's career earnings to $110,520, with two wins in nine starts. The colt was supplemented to the race at a cost of $1,500.
