Economic Model wins Belmont feature

NEW YORK (AP) Economic Model powered to a four-length victory Wednesday in the $80,000 allowance feature for 3-year-olds in the slop at Belmont Park.

The Chad Brown-trained colt rebounded from a ninth-place finish in the Tampa Bay Derby with his second win in four starts.

Ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., Economic Model ran the mile in 1:36.44 and paid $3.70, $3.10 and $2.60.

Jay's Way held on for second after setting the pace at 27-1. He returned $12.80 and $7.90.

Taoiseach paid $6.90 to show.
