Atascadero wins feature at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Atascadero won the $58,000 feature for California-bred or sired horses by three-quarters of a length Friday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Martin Garcia, Atascadero ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.34 and paid $9.20, $4.40 and $3.20 as the 7-2 second choice.

Matriculate returned $4.80 and $3.80, while Ultimate Luck was another 1 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $3.60 to show.

The victory, worth $34,800, increased Atascadero's career earnings to $82,720, with two wins in four starts. Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, Atascadero was trying a two-turn race for the first time.
