Off the Tracks rolls by 3 1/2 lengths in Mother Goose Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) Off the Tracks set the pace and comfortably held off Lewis Bay by 3 1/2 lengths Saturday to win the $300,000 Mother Goose Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Belmont Park.

It was the fifth Mother Goose for trainer Todd Pletcher, moving him one behind stakes record holder D. Wayne Lukas.

Off the Tracks was one of three Pletcher fillies in the seven-horse field. His Mo d'Amour was fourth with Rachel's Valentina, the 9-5 favorite, fifth.

Off the Tracks broke alertly from the starting gate and was pressured early by Mom's On Strike. She shook free turning for home and had plenty in reserve as Lewis Bay presented the only serious stretch challenge after recovering from a stumble at the break.

Jose Ortiz was aboard as Off the Tracks ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.01, improving her record to 4-1-1 in six starts.

''We went a bit fast, but she wasn't pushed all the way to do that,'' Ortiz said. ''She was relaxed and did it by herself.''

Off the Tracks paid $8.10, $3.60 and $2.70. Lewis Bay returned $3.10 and $2.60. Lightstream paid $2.90 to show.
