Breeder Keller, trainer Nickells enter Harness Hall of Fame

GOSHEN, N.Y. (AP) Breeder Charlie Keller III and trainer Bruce Nickells have been inducted into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame.

Keller continued the Yankeeland breeding farm started by his late father, Charles Keller Jr., the New York Yankees outfielder who played alongside Joe DiMaggio. Nickells is best known as a trainer of pacing fillies.

Also inducted Sunday evening were Muscle Hill, horse of the year in 2009; Real Desire, who won that honor in 2002; and broodmare Arl's Troublemaker.

The late trainer Carl Allen and race mare Princess entered the Immortals Hall of Fame at the ceremony in Goshen, New York.

The Communicators Corner of the Hall welcomed racing statistician David Carr and publicist Jerry Connors.
