NEW YORK (AP) Green Mask ended a lengthy losing streak with a 2 ¼-length victory Friday in the $90,000 allowance feature for turf sprinters at Belmont Park.

Winless in his previous 12 races, Green Mask was strongly favored at 2/5 against five rivals. Those dozen starts were all stakes races, and this was a class drop.

The 5-year-old gelding trained by Brad Cox and jockey John Velazquez were bottled up in traffic at the top of the stretch. Once an opening materialized, Green Mask darted through for his fourth win in 18 starts.

The time was 1:08.01 for the six furlongs.

Green Mask paid $2.80, $2.10 and $2.10.

Simon Bar Sinister nosed out Bold Thunder for the place spot, returning $7.90 and $4.90.

Bold Thunder, the longest price in the field at 43-1, paid $7.20 to show.
