In broad daylight: Night Prowler wins Belmont Park feature
NEW YORK (AP) Night Prowler beat Bay of Plenty by 1 1/4 lengths Wednesday in the $90,000 allowance feature on the turf at Belmont Park.
The 4-year-old gelding trained by Chad Brown was making only his second start of the season following a sixth-place finish at Saratoga.
Jockey Javier Castellano and Night Prowler advanced four-wide at the top of the stretch and closed steadily to catch the pacesetting Bay of Plenty.
The time was 1:40.76 for the 1 1/16 miles.
Night Prowler improved to 2-0-1 in three starts over the Belmont course, paying $9.90, $4.50 and $2.80.
Bay of Plenty returned $5.20 and $3.70, and Almanaar, the 9/5 favorite, paid $2.90 to show.
