Lord Nelson scratched from Breeders' Cup Sprint

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Lord Nelson, the early 5-2 second wagering choice, has been scratched from the Breeders' Cup Sprint with a minor injury.

Trainer Bob Baffert says Lord Nelson developed an infection from a small cut in his right front leg. He says the horse needed antibiotics so he won't be able to run in the $1.5 million race on Saturday at Santa Anita.

The defection of Lord Nelson on Thursday leaves a field of seven in the Sprint. Joking was scratched on Wednesday.

Masochistic is the early 2-1 favorite for the six-furlong race.
