Why Kentucky Derby horses are worth much more off the track
Friday May 5th, 2017

There's just one day to go until the running of the 2017 Kentucky Derby.

The post time for the main race is 6:34 p.m. ET on Saturday. The races will be broadcast on NBC starting at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Last year’s winner, Nyquist, took off as a 2–1 favorite. Nyquist went on to finish third in the Preakness Stakes and was pulled out of the Belmont because of an illness.

If this year's odds are any indication, the race should be a good one. No single horse is the clear favorite to win, though Classic Empire and McCraken are given the best chance by bookmakers.

Here's a full list of odds as of Friday at 3:27 p.m. ET, according to the Derby's official projections
