Seahawks, Volt Athletics team up to bring strength training to schools

Three Washington state high schools will receive brand new training equipment and access to Volt's innovative app.

Last week, the Seattle Seahawks announced a partnership with a local sports technology company that hopes to become the future of sports training: Volt Athletics.

Together, the two organizations will donate professional strength training programs to three Washington high school football teams, which they can then utilize alongside Volt’s training app.

The three-year-old company, which has raised more than $1.85 million in funding, assists players in developing explosiveness, muscle mass and overall strength; it counts more than 50,000 athletes and coaches as partners.

“The Seahawks are taking a proactive approach with the aim of strengthening youth and high school football programs throughout the state, and we’re proud to play a role,” Dan Giuliani, co-founder and CEO of Volt Athletics, said in a press release. “Working together, we are able to leverage new technology to make elite-level training available and accessible to these local teams.”

In the statement, Mike Flood, Seahawks VP of community outreach, added: “The health and safety of young athletes is one of our top priorities. Our partnership with Volt will provide additional resources for coaches and athletes to learn how to train more effectively.”

So, how does the application work?

An individual athlete chooses from 40-plus sport-specific workouts, with Volt then designing customized training plans for each user. Additionally, online instruction videos, a calendar and injury prevention workouts are available inside the app. Coaches can also manage their players and implement workout programs via their mobile or tablet device.

“The best athletes train on a strategic plan; they don’t do random workouts,” Giuliani said this past May. “Volt’s intelligent training engine tells you exactly what to do in the weight room, how to do it, and when to do it. It’s not random—it’s the right workout for you, every time.”
