On the heels of signing its first Major League Baseball endorser in Houston Astros budding star Carlos Correa, wearable technology company Blast Motion launched a new Apple Watch app Tuesday.
The Apple Watch integration gives athletes real-time feedback on their swing motion in addition to video highlights displayed on their wrists.

The app works in tandem with both HealthKit and SiriKit, with the former allowing athletes to monitor various metrics, including calorie burn and heart rate. Additionally, as Siri provides real-time announcements during practice, players will not have to access their mobile devices in order to check their status, making it a more efficient workout.
Blast Motion senior director of technology Bhaskar Bose said in a statement that this will create a “more natural training experience.” With the updated Blast Baseball 360 app, athletes can access training videos directly from the home screen and learn how to refine their swing, hit more consistently and improve their power.
“We’re focused on helping athletes improve through our natural motion capture technologies, while ensuring technology doesn’t get in the way,” Blast Motion senior director of marketing Donovan Prostrollo said in a statement. “Our new Apple Watch app and seamless Siri integration provides a great example of how we’re helping athletes have more fun while improving their swing.”
In late June, MLB announced Blast Motion as its official bat sensor technology provider. The company’s sensor technology was also featured at the 2016 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on July 10.
“We’ve created a seamless user experience that’s portable, affordable, and easy to use,” Blast Motion president and CEO Roger Weingarth said earlier this summer about the partnership. “We’re excited to ... advance the game of baseball and bring professional-grade technology to athletes of all skill sets. It’s going to be fun watching technology enable a new generation of athletes.”
