Washington Capitals partner with Kiswe Mobile for instant video during games
Hockey is a sport with constant action and minimal breaks in between plays. This makes it difficult for NHL players to recall previous plays that could have been executed in a better way.
Knowing this, the Washington Capitals have partnered with media packaging company Kiswe Mobile to help give the team an easier way to review plays, even during games.
During the 2015-16 season, the Capitals’ coaching staff was able to use Kiswe’s technology to study all the action on the ice while the game was still going on. The company’s app provides streams from four different cameras of every home and away game, which can be accessed via tablets on the bench.

“Kiswe’s software is a phenomenal teaching tool for our coaching staff and players,” Capitals Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian MacLellan said in a statement. “Kiswe has made the Capitals a top priority as we have worked to tailor their software to our needs and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them.”
Included with the live-stream is the ability to pause and rewind the video, as well as cut out short clips to save for later. This gives the coaches a chance to show the players what exactly happened out on the ice and what they can do to improve themselves. The capability to visually see them on the ice rather than just imagining it is what will make those necessary changes possible during the next line change.

Kiswe began as a startup company back in 2013 and has focused its technology to assist numerous sports and entertainment organizations in regards to giving their fans an in depth look at each of their events. Kiswe has partnered up with companies like Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Capitals. It also has a partnership with Ripken Baseball. As more begin to use the technology, it will only be a matter of time before teams in leagues all over the world have their streams ready and available on their benches.
