Longtime Turner Sports broadcaster and NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager was awarded the "outstanding sports personality – sports reporter" Emmy Award on Tuesday evening. Sager passed away last year after a long battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

Sager won the Jimmy V Perseverance ESPY Award just five months before he passed away on Dec. 15, 2016. He will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in September 2017.

Sager worked for Turner for more than 30 years. He underwent three bone marrow transplants and more than 20 rounds of chemotherapy in his cancer battle.
