MLB Postseason Blown Calls
World Series Game 4
Against the Yankees in Game 4, the Phillies' Ryan Howard was called safe at home in the bottom of the fourth inning, tying the score at two, but he never touched the plate.
World Series Game 2
With the Yankees looking to break the game open in the bottom of the seventh, Johnny Damon's line drive was caught by Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard, who threw to second to double up Jorge Posada. Replays showed the liner may have been short-hopped, however, and the question remains of why Howard threw to second if he had indeed caught the ball.
World Series Game 2
With men on first and second and Philly trailing 3-1 in the eighth inning of Game 2 of the World Series, Chase Utley (inset) grounded into a double play turned by Derek Jeter. Replays showed Utley beating Jeter's throw to first base.
AL Wild Card Playoff
In the 12th inning of the Tigers-Twins one-game playoff for the AL Central title, Detroit's Brandon Inge was grazed on the uniform by a pitch with the bases loaded, which would have forced in a run. But the umpire missed the call, Inge grounded into a fielder's choice and the Twins went on to win in the bottom of the inning.
ALDS Game 1
In Game 1 of the AL Division Series, the umpires incorrectly called Howie Kendrick safe at first base twice, much to the disbelief of Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis. The Angels would win the game and sweep the series.
ALDS Game 2
In the top of the 11th of Game 2 of the AL Division Series at Yankee Stadium, Twins catcher Joe Mauer hit what appeared to be a leadoff double down the left-field line. But umpire Phil Cuzzi called it foul. Mauer would single and the Twins would load the bases but fail to score. The Yankees went on to win the game and sweep the series.
NLDS Game 3
In Game 3 of the NL Division Series, Philly's Chase Utley checked his swing and the ball hit him inside the batter's box, which should have been ruled a foul ball at that point. But the home plate umpire ruled the ball fair, allowing Jimmy Rollins to advance to third base. Compounding the error, Utley was incorrectly ruled safe at first base. Rollins would score the game-winning run against the Rockies on Ryan Howard's sac fly.
NLCS Game 4
Ronnie Belliard appeared to have been thrown out trying to steal second base in the eighth inning of Game 4 of the NLCS, but he was ruled safe on a close play.
ALCS Game 4
Los Angeles Angels' Erick Aybar appears to tag out New York Yankees' Nick Swisher as he slides back to second on a pick off attempt, but he was called safe.
ALCS Game 4
New York's Nick Swisher (inset) appeared to tag up cleanly on a fly ball to center field in the fourth inning of Game 4 of the ALCS, but the Angels appealed the play at third base and umpire Tim McClelland ruled that Swisher had left early. Instead of a run it turned into an inning-ending double play.
ALCS Game 4
Yankees Jorge Posada and Robinson Cano were caught off third base in the fifth inning of Game 4 of the ALCS, and both appeared to be tagged out, but third base umpire Tim McClelland ruled Cano safe. The mistake did not lead to any scoring in the inning, however.
