Cubs are set to call up outfielder Jorge Soler, one of the top prospects in the team’s farm system.
Soler was taken out of Triple-A Iowa’s game against Tacoma on Monday night after hitting a three-run home run in the third inning of the game and is set to join the team Wednesday in Cincinnati.
“He's a special kid," Iowa hitting coach Bryan Harper said to MiLB.com. "He's strong as can be. What we saw this year, even though it was just a couple hundred at-bats, was what we were all expecting from him. I think he's lived up to it."
Soler is hitting .338 with 15 home runs and 54 RBIs while playing in Triple-A, Double-A and the rookie league this season. He was hurt the majority of last season and was called up to Iowa last month.
