Texas Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo will miss the remainder of the season, according to T.R. Sullivan. His All-Star teammate, pitcher Yu Darvish, may also miss the rest of the season.

The 32-year-old Choo will have surgery to remove bone spurs in his left elbow and is expected to be back at full health for the 2015 season. Darvish, the three-time all star, is "less and less likely" to return to the rotation in 2014, Sullivan said, citing Rangers' GM Jon Daniels. The Rangers placed Darvish on the disabled list Aug. 13 with right elbow inflammation

Rangers vice president of communications John Blake confirmed Sullivan's report Monday night and said 24-year-old outfielder Michael Choice will take Choo's place for the Rangers' game in Seattle Monday night.

Choo, who is in the first year of a seven-year, $130 million deal, hit .242 with 13 home runs and 40 runs batted in across 123 games in 2014.

Darvish has a 10-7 record and 3.06 ERA in 22 starts this season for the Rangers.

At 50-79, the Texas has the worst record in baseball.
