Fans at Fenway Park start Derek Jeter chant
Fenway Park, which has always been enemy territory for lifelong Yankee Derek Jeter, paid homage to the retiring shortstop by chanting his name in the top of the third inning of Friday's game against New York.

Jeter wasn't in the lineup, but he said he will DH on Saturday and Sunday — the final two games of his 20-year career.
The 40-year-old, who is a career .309 hitter, has hit .265 with 14 homers and 75 RBIs in 142 career games at Fenway Park.
This is the first season that both the Yankees and the Red Sox won't make the playoffs since 1994, when there wasn't a postseason because of a players strike. Both teams also missed the 1993 playoffs.
