Baseball Hall of Fame already planning for Derek Jeter's induction
Derek Jeter still has two games left in his career, but the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is already planning for his induction.
Jeter will be eligible for enshrinement in 2020, and the mayor of Cooperstown, Jeff Katz, believes the town could be bombarded with a record crowd that weekend.
"Maybe it could be 100,000 [people], maybe 120,000, what if it's 200,000?" he told WSTM-TV in Syracuse.

There were about 80,000 people in Cooperstown for the 2007 induction of Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr., Katz said. He added that Otsego County emergency services and state police will work with the Hall of Fame to prepare not only for Jeter's induction, but also the potential 2019 induction of former Yankees closer Mariano Rivera.
"Depending on how many people Rivera brings out, that will help us hone in," Katz told the station. "Every induction weekend has its own set [of issues]. When you're looking ahead to a guy like Derek Jeter, you have to prepare. That guy has affected and touched so many people that everyone will want to share in it."
