The Texas Rangers are focused on three internal candidates as possibilities for their managerial opening, general manager Jon Daniels said Sunday.

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the Rangers will interview current interim manager Tim Bogar, pitching coach Mike Maddux and Triple-A Round Rock manager Steve Buechele. Daniels told Wilson the organization will also interview "a few external candidates."

Former Rangers manager Ron Washington resigned in early September, later telling reporters he did so because he had cheated on his wife. The Rangers finished 67-95 this season, beating out only the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies for the worst record in the majors. They did, however, go 14-8 after Bogar took over as manager, stepping up from his former role as bench coach.
