Nationals' Desmond could miss playoff game for birth of child

Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond could miss an upcoming playoff game to attend the birth of his child, Washington's manager Matt Williams indicated in a report Saturday from Chase Hughes of

The Nationals are currently down 1-0 to the Giants in the NLDS. They're playing Game 2 on Saturday night in Washington D.C. and the series shifts to a Game 3 in San Francisco on Monday. It's not immediately clear which game, if any, Desmond would miss when his child is born.  

The 29-year-old, an All-Star in 2012, finished 2014 with 24 home runs, 24 steals and 91 RBI.
